In biology there is a fascination exercised by the manifestations of symmetry, the presence of this symmetry in nature and in various organisms, including in humans. The corollary of symmetry will be addressed, namely, asymmetry - and the provocative questions it can raise. Recent observations show how, at the cellular level, the balance between symmetry and asymmetry conditions the development of an organism.
Mechanics plays an important role in biology by being one of the driving forces that lead to the emergence of symmetry.
